After purchasing a domain name, you have three DNS configuration options.
The appropriate choice depends on your requirements: simplicity, control, or advanced functionality.
OPTION 1: BASIC SETUP (NO CHANGES)
No action required.
- Default NS servers remain unchanged
- Domain is already linked to your hosting account
- Required DNS records are preconfigured
Result:
- Website will become available after DNS propagation
DNS Propagation Time:
- Typically 5 minutes to 24 hours (up to 48 hours)
Notes:
- DNS records are not user-editable
- Changes (A, MX, TXT, etc.) are handled via support requests
- Processing time depends on support workload
Use case:
- Website-only usage
- No custom DNS requirements
OPTION 2: DNS MANAGEMENT VIA CPANEL
Provides full control over DNS records.
Steps:
1. Client Area → Domains
2. Select domain
3. Nameservers → set NS:
Nameserver 1: ns2.hostablanca.com
Nameserver 2: ns3.hostablanca.com
Nameserver 3: (leave empty)
Nameserver 4: (leave empty)
Nameserver 5: (leave empty)
4. Remove any existing nameserver entries
5. Save changes
6. Wait for propagation
7. cPanel → Zone Editor

- Email configuration
- Third-party service integration
DNS Propagation Time:
- Up to 24–48 hours
Use case:
- Custom DNS configuration
- Email or external services
- Full administrative control
OPTION 3: EXTERNAL DNS / CDN (CLOUDFLARE)
External DNS and CDN provider:
Features:
- Full DNS management
- CDN (content delivery network)
- DDoS protection
- SSL support
- Caching and performance optimization
Steps:
1. Register with Cloudflare
2. Add domain
3. Obtain assigned NS servers
4. Replace current NS servers
DNS Propagation Time:
- Up to 24 hours
Use case:
- Performance optimization
- Security requirements
- Scalable or production environments
IMPORTANT
- Only one NS configuration can be active at a time
- DNS changes require propagation time
- Configuration can be changed at any time
